We ask that all volunteers review and sign the attached Release and Waiver of Liability. All volunteers under the age of 18 will need a signature from a parent or guardian.
Photographers and drone operators will be present throughout the event, as well as reporters from local media outlets. See attached Notice of Filming and Photography for more information.
VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTIONS
1. Cutting
⇒ Tops of brush/saplings with hand loppers, power saws, hand saws (Adults only)
⇒ Trunks and stems of brush/saplings with hand loppers, power saws, hand saws (Adults only)
⇒ Stumps above grade (2” – 4”) of brush/saplings with hand loppers, power saws, hand saws (Adults only)
2. Piling
⇒ Cut tops, stems and trunks of brush/saplings at least 30’ away from cutting location (Adults and older teens only)
⇒ Carry and pile cuttings from 25’ zone to staging location for loading to trucks/trailers (Adults, older teens, and 12-14 year olds only)
3. Loading
⇒ Onto trucks/trailers for haul away (Adults and older teens only)
4. Ground Clearing
⇒ Rake (hand) loose debris, weeds, trash into piles after brush has been cleared (Older teens and 12-14 year olds only)
⇒ Load piled debris into wheel barrows, CAREFULLY watching for cemetery and building artifacts (Everyone)
5. Flagging
⇒ Place numbered flags near locations of discovered artifacts (Adults and older teens only)
⇒ Numbered flags will help keep track of how many artifacts are identified, and possibly help archaeologists cross reference
6. Wheel barrows
⇒ Move collected debris to staging location for loading to trucks/trailers (Adults, older teens, and 12-14 year olds only)
