San Antonio in the Fight & Flight for Freedom

Join us for a symposium discussing the history of self emancipated freedom fighters and the journey to Mexico. The program includes:

    • Dr. Mekala Audain,  Associate Professor of 19th Century US History and African American History at The College of New Jersey
    • Dr. Maria Hammack, Assistant Professor African American History at The Ohio State University
    • The National Park Service, National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom
    • San Antonio Missions, UNESCO World Heritage Site
    • Sandra Ogogor & Jadyn Evans with a presentation on freedom seekers in San Antonio
    • Shelby Cook & Roselyn Mena share their ongoing research on an African American cemetery in Atascosa County
