Bring History to Life in Your Classroom

The San Antonio African American Community Archive and Museum (SAAACAM) is committed to helping educators engage students with meaningful, standards-aligned learning experiences that connect local history to the broader American story.

Our Educator Resource Guide is a free resource designed for K–12 teachers, homeschool educators, youth leaders, and community organizations. Inside you’ll discover classroom-ready materials, local history resources, exhibit information, field trip opportunities, and educational programs that inspire students to become historians, researchers, storytellers, and preservationists.

The guide also highlights:

  • Curriculum connections and classroom resources
  • The Aaronetta Pierce Future Preservationist Program
  • Museum field trips and guided tours
  • In-classroom presentations
  • Monthly Film Club opportunities
  • The 2027 Black History Theme
  • San Antonio’s rich African American history and local Black press

Whether you’re introducing students to Black history for the first time or expanding an existing curriculum, SAAACAM is your partner in bringing history to life.
