Donate materials to SAAACAM

Archival donations to SAAACAM are incredibly important because they help preserve the authentic voices, stories, and experiences of the community for future generations. These materials—like photographs, letters, documents, and artifacts—offer a deeper, more personal understanding of history that might otherwise be lost. By contributing to SAAACAM’s permanent collection, donors help ensure that the diverse history and experiences of African American descendants here in San Antonio and around the Southwest region are represented, celebrated, and made accessible for education, research, and cultural pride.

At SAAACAM we evaluate all potential donations in accordance with our collection development policy. When considering a donation we evaluate a donation’s relation to SAAACAM’s mission, the donation’s condition, and if we can properly preserve the material. All materials accepted into SAAACAM’s permanent collection are maintained with a long-term institutional commitment to ensuring proper storage, preservation, and stewardship.
