JOIN SAAACAM on May 15th for a conversation with author Will Guzmán, as he discusses his books “The Hill We Climbed: Prairie View A&M University” and “Justice on ‘The Hill’: A History of Activism at Prairie View A&M University”. Both books chronicle the resilience and activism of Texas’s second-oldest public institution. Together, these books show that PVAMU is not just a place for learning but a “wellspring of justice” where students have worked for over a century to change both themselves and the nation.

Will Guzmán has authored “Civil Rights in the Texas Borderlands” (2015) and edited “Emmett J. Scott: Power Broker of the Tuskegee Machine” (2023), “The Hill We Climbed: Prairie View A&M University” (2026), and “Justice on ‘The Hill’: A History of Activism at Prairie View A&M University (2026). He has taught at Prairie View A&M University, his alma mater Florida A&M University, and is currently an assistant vice chancellor at North Carolina Central University in Durham.

This discussion will take place on Friday May 15th at the historic Healy Murphy Center, 611 Chestnut, SATX 78202
