Great SA – Freedom: A Juneteenth Culinary Conversation

June 14, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Food is a universal love language, and in the Black community, this love runs deep. It comes from a desire to nourish others, spend time together, maintain traditions, and stay within our means.

As descendants from Africa, a land of many countries and tribes, we brought our traditions to this land through different ports and different means. One thing is similar, food is a way of building and protecting our culture.

Sunday dinners, family reunions, weekday supper and holidays like Juneteenth provides the backdrop for our community to come together and celebrate the legacy that is embedded in our DNA.

This culinary conversation will focus on the freedom to celebrate Black heritage through food.
